She sits as if within a dream, the Japanese bird slowly emerging from its flat reality into life. My model and friend arrived for a sitting in this white almost satin like dress. I was immediately struck by the contrast. She emanated a sense of almost sultry romance. It was sheer fortune when she rested next to the Japanese prints I inherited from my late father, which sparked this idea.
