The Bageris Wave Wall Keeps Dancing Sunlight and First Kisses

The Bageris Wave Wall Keeps Dancing Sunlight and First Kisses, Plein Air Oil
The Bageris Wave Wall Keeps Dancing Sunlight and First Kisses
Painted en plein air across three sessions during the juried Paint Grand Traverse plein air event in Traverse City, MI in June of 2024. I worked with traditional oils on a handmade oil primed linen panel. I enjoyed painting the contrasts of proportions and the soft vs hard edges along the raised horizon. The red and blue mural on the receding cinder block wall caught my attention along with the varying dappled light shapes in the foreground. A neighbor who grew up on this street shared with me stories about his childhood biking on homemade ramps in the alleys and receiving his first kiss on top of that cinder block wall.
