I paint the incredible Koolau Mountains on the Island of Oahu. If you catch them right at sunset this is what you see. The sun is setting over Waikiki and the bright rays shoot up through the valley of the Pali (cliffs) of the Koolau mountains. The Hawaiians call it "Kea Puka" meaning "hole in the sky." It is quite stunning but only happends when the clouds are just right.
