Sun Kissed Islands

My visit to the Palawan Islands in the Philippines was unforgettable. Everyday, I watched the sun touched the horizon and painted several watercolor sketches. I then painted this tropical sunset in oil on a large canvas. I applied many layers of underpainting to capture the warm glow of an evening sunset. I love to use texture with palette knife effects, and bold brush strokes, complementary colors and muted grays to create subtle contrasts. It was a joy to journal a wonderful memory with my brush and paint.
