Beyond the Cottonwood

Beyond the Cottonwood, Plein Air Watercolor
Beyond the Cottonwood
An annual Plein Air Competition, I could only participate on the weekend. It was pouring buckets of rain, dark, cold, and I was at the water treatment/wildlife refuge. The only cover was a veranda with a roof like a sieve. I kept moving my easel, inching back as the leaks encroached. The paper was saturated and not going to dry. I took it to my car heater until it was paintable, and returned to the easel. A popular place for birdwatchers and plein air participants, not another soul joined me that day. But as in most cases, enduring the weather was worth it!
