A Drink With Old Friends

Books contain universes. They are gateways and portals to other worlds, other lives, times, and perspectives. They comfort by showing us we are not alone, while also opening our imaginations and minds to other possibilities.

This is a love letter to all the books I have known; the stories and characters and writers who have always been there, in all sorts of weather and circumstances. When everything feels strange or overwhelming in its uncertainty, they have been companionably constant. Like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, the books featured are not exactly haute cuisine of the mind but deeply comforting, nourishing, and beloved for their familiarity and reliability.
