This "sailboat rock" actually exists on Atlantic Road in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Much of the rest of the painting is made up or altered. I used three primary colors (Cerulean Blue, Italian Venetian Red, Cadmium Yellow Light) plus Titanium White. The schooner "Ardelle" can be seen sailing near the horizon. This schooner has been the subject of multiple paintings of mine.
