Whilst walking through the forests of north America, specifically California and Oregon, I was blessed to witness an owl who flew into a tree right in front The Goddess of art, justice, wisdom, learning and purity. What better patron for an artist. Her symbol was the owl, a brilliant huntress, predator, filled with wisdom, symbolising transformation, intuitive development, prosperity and good luck. Bonding for life, these owls are wonderful parents, both caring for the young owlets. On silent wings, their sonorous calls echo through the stillness until, triumphant they bring their booty home. Using a large brush I dipped into three pigments to create my background, spraying with water to allow the organic nature of the medium to echo the chaos of nature, then bring the focus to the subject with detail, fading away, blending the owl into her habitat, and inviting the viewer to discover the hidden.
