Presque Isle (Day 117), June 14, 2024

The Presque Isle Series:
While painting on location, I strive to identify and record the truths of experience that can be colored with so much memory and feeling of a place. These paintings are more vibrant to me than any other souvenir could be from that time spent, as I am more likely to recall a place having stood in deliberate study of its ever-changing nature and chased the light across the canvas with my brush. The scenes at Presque Isle Park have become so deeply ingrained in my artistic practice that I find myself painting with those memories in the studio as well, hoping for a warm breeze to guide my hand.
